One evening not too many years ago, I was in the kitchen preparing a meal with my son. We were talking and laughing and having a good time, which isn’t always easy with a teenager. Enjoying a respite from a busy day and spending quality time with my son reminded me to appreciate what is right in front of me, what is right in the moment.
“The best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life’s plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life.” —Robert Louis Stevenson
