Drum roll please! I am thrilled to reveal the cover of my forthcoming picture book, Backyard Birds of Puget Sound: Field Guide for Budding Birders, illustrations by Anya Macleod. Isn’t it gorgeous? Available Spring, 2020.

About the Book
Of all the animals, our winged friends are the easiest to find and enjoy year-round. To help budding naturalists get started on this exciting hobby, Backyard Birds of Puget Sound is an easy-to-read, fact-filled introduction to 70 of the most common backyard birds — from tiny jewel-colored hummingbirds to large hawks and everything in between — the perfect window into nature. This guide, over 200 pages, includes 70 beautiful watercolor illustrations of the most frequently observed backyard birds, with notes on sizes and distinguishing markings, morphology, migration and location, habitat, behavior, diet, backyard tips and more.
In the back of the book, you’ll find a glossary, checklist of Washington state birds, and a comprehensive list of helpful resources and information.
