Hide a Book Day Sept. 18th!

September 9, 2017 by Kelly Lenihan

The Book Fairies have buddied up with Goodreads to have a day just for the celebration of books and readers on September 18th! We are calling it “Hide a Book Day” and hope to get lots of Goodreads members involved – as well as our very own book fairies!

The idea behind The Book Fairies was inspired by concepts like Book Crossing. The Book Fairies can be anywhere and could be someone you know. The Book Fairies are not restricted by countries, transport, or anything else. If you want to share books, you can get stickers and be a book fairy. If you are a book lover, keep your eye out for a book hiding near you!

The Book Fairies launched in March 2017 with over 5,000 people sharing books in 100 countries! The more the merrier, so why not get started and order your stickers here.

Find Your Perfect Hiding Spot

Where will you hide your books? Keep the weather in mind for any outdoor locations (soggy books are sad books) and remember that the books should be hidden…but not too hidden (abandoned books are the saddest). Some of our favorite hiding spots: train and bus stations, national monuments and museums, and parks.

Share Your Books

Once you’ve hidden a book, take a picture and share it with your fellow Goodreads members and Book Fairies on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram using the hashtags #hideabookday, #ibelieveinbookfairies and if you’re an author hiding your own book, #indiebookfairies.

The excitement book fairies around the world get when they find a great hiding spot – and even better, when someone finds one of their books – is hard to beat. 🙂

Do you believe in book fairies?
